What Is The ATLAS Program?
ATLAS is a dynamic partnership between College of Alameda, Workforce Investment and Community Based Organizations to design and deliver career pathways training in the transportation and logistics industry. Our curricula are designed with input from logistics industry experts and integrate college-level, adult-education and nonprofit resources to create a comprehensive education, training and job placement program for adults 18 years and older.

ATLAS encompasses four distinct training programs:
- Warehouse Operations and Forklift Certification (Warehouse Operations and Forklift CertificationThe Warehouse Operations and Forklift Certification training program prepares you for entry-level work in the logistics industry. The program lasts 9 weeks and consists of four modules.Required coursework includes:
- BUS 240: Intro. to Warehouse Operations (2 units)
- CIS 205: Computer Literacy (1 unit)
- COUNS 201: Orientation to College (1 unit)
- DMECH 202: Forklift Operation and Certification (1 unit)
- LRNRE 280: Study Skills (1 unit)
- HAZMAT: Certification
- OSHA 10: General Industry Certification
- PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Job and career preparationYou are eligible for the program, if you meet the following requirements:
- 18 and over
- At least 6th-grade reading and math skills
- Have a willingness to work
- Clean and sober
All classes are taught by experienced, credentialed instructors associated with the College of Alameda. Before you can begin, you will need to register for the program, attend an orientation, and complete an assessment.

2. Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics [Transportation, Distribution, and Logistics]
This training results in a Certificate of Achievement, with expected completion within 2 semesters with full-time enrollment. Required coursework includes:
- BUS 10: Intro. to Business (3 units)
- BUS 112: Principles of Logistics (3 units)
- BUS 114: Principles of Supply Chain Management (3 units)
- BUS 115: Computerized Logistics (3 units)
- BUS 116: Warehouse Management Operations (3 units)
- BUS 208: Communication Skills for Technicians (3 units)
- MATH 225: Mathematics for Technicians (3 units)*The AA degree will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of the major requirements listed above and the General Education requirements for the Associates in Arts Degree(Please see CTE counselor for more information).3. Transportation Logistics OperationsThis training prepares students for jobs such as: Dock Workers, Shipping & Receiving, Inventory, In-house Manifest, and Customer Service. Required coursework includes:
- BUS 247: Intro to Logistics for the Non-Traditional Office (1 unit)
- BUS 220: Business Terminology in Logistics (2 units)
- BUS 236: Records Management in Logistics (2 units)
- CIS 1: Intro to Computer Information Systems (4 units)
- Math 250: Arithmetic or equivalent (3 units)
- Professional Development- Job & career preparation4. Customized Training (Customized Training)If your employees need specific workplace training related to the logistics industry, contact us about ATLAS customized training. The benefits of an ATLAS customized training program include:

The U.S. Department of Education requires colleges to disclose a variety of information for any financial aid eligible program that “prepares students for gainful employment in a recognized occupation”. The information provided in the link(s) below describes the graduation rates, the median debt of students who completed the program, and other important information regarding gainful employment for the latest completed academic year (as of July 1). Full-time status is defined as a student that enrolls in 12 units for both the fall and the spring semesters of a given academic year.

The program cost for all students is the same as the California Community College Enrollment
Fee – $ 46 per semester units.
This program is Financial Aid eligible. To determine financial eligibility students must submit a Financial Aid (FAFSA) application. See How to Apply.
No, you do not need a high school diploma for any of the ATLAS programs.
For the ATLAS Warehouse Operations and Forklift Certification program, math and reading skills, at least a 6th grade level, are required. Other programs may require proficiency in math, reading, writing and basic computer skills.
Job placement services will be available for all applicants who are accepted to and successfully complete the program.
