Women’s Volleyball

 Are you interested in playing on our intercollegiate volleyball team? If so, please contact head coach Linda Thompson at (510) 388-6185. You should have an academic goal: 1) “transfer to a four-year college”, or 2) receive a certificate of completion, or 3) earned your associates degree. As a Cougar volleyball player, you should be a committed student-athlete, have excellent work ethics, a team player, and are committed to working hard.

ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES:

SUMMER SESSION – THE COUGAR WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM ARE REQUIRED TO ENROLLED  IN (ATHL73-VOLLEYBALL TEAM PRE-SEASON WORKOUT, KIN58-WEIGHT TRAINING, AND KIN36-AEROBIC CIRCUITS).

IT IS ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT STUDENT-ATHLETES ENROLL IN 3 ACADEMIC UNITS.

FALL SEMESTER – ENROLL IN 12+ ACADEMIC UNITS, INCLUDING ATHL73 INTERCOLLEGIATE VOLLEYBALL & KIN54A.

IT IS ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT STUDENT-ATHLETES ENROLL IN THEIR ACADEMIC COURSES BETWEEN 8:00AM-12:00PM. TEAM PRACTICE IS 12:30PM-3:00PM

SPRING SEMESTER – ENROLL IN 12+ ACADEMIC UNITS, INCLUDING KIN54B CROSSFIT TRAINING AND KIN120 VOLLEYBALL / ATHL76 TEAM VOLLEYBALL

DURING THE SPRING, THE TEAM PLAYS IN 3 NON-TRADITIONAL TOURNAMENTS

NEW STUDENT-ATHLETES:  BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER IN ANY ACADEMIC COURSES, you must complete the following steps below.

    • To apply, copy and paste link:  http://alameda.peralta.edu/admissions/
    • Take the Assessment Test for English and Math or produce your high school transcript. An application for admission must be filed with the admissions and records office prior to taking the assessment test. Contact the testing center (510) 748-5267,  to make an appointment. 
    • Meet with Edwin Towle, our athletics academic counselor – call (510) 748-5201 to schedule an appointment.
    • After you complete matriculation, enroll immediately into classes.
    • Are you eligible for financial aid? If so, complete your financial aid forms at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov  If you need further information, call Financial Aid Services at (510) 748-2391.

The College of Alameda abides by the provisions of the California Community College Athletic Code as well as the specifications imposed by the Bay Valley Conference (BVC) and the Calfornia Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA). The nature of these requirements are very exacting. Athletes are advised to become thoroughly familiar with the requirements to avoid loss of eligibility. A copy of the State Athletic Code is on file in the office of the Athletic Director.

CURRENT COLLEGE OF ALAMEDA STUDENT-ATHLETES:  To be eligible for intercollegiate competition, you must be enroll in a minimum of 12 academic units, including the 3 unit ATHL71 volleyball team course.

If you competed during your freshman year, to compete in your sophomore year you must have passed a total of 24 units/2.0 GPA by the end of summer session.

TRANSFERRING STUDENTS FROM ANOTHER CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE/4-YEAR COLLEGE WHO COMPETED ONE YEAR:  IN ORDER TO BE ELIGIBLE TO COMPETE YOUR 2ND SEASON OF VOLLEYBALL AT THE COLLEGE OF ALAMEDA, you must have completed 24 Units (12 of those academic units must have been completed at the College of Alameda.

2013 Cougar Volleyball

The Cougars finished 2nd place in the Bay Valley Conference last season and earned a berth to the “Sweet 16”; finishing among the top 16 in the State.  Sophomore Eboni Green received Bay Valley All-Conference First Team.
