Cite the Sources

Cite Your Sources

Plagiarism is using the work of someone else without giving proper credit. If you copy a sentence and paste it into your paper without citing the source of information, then you are committing plagiarism. If you rephrase the sentence without giving credit, then you are still committing plagiarism. If you copy and paste a photo or a piece of music into your own work, then you are committing plagiarism.

Citing your sources is important because it:
* Gives credit to the original author
* Adds credibility and authority to your own work
* Let’s readers identify and locate additional information
