Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month Events at COA

APIA STUDENT STORIES: Tuesday, May 2nd at 12:00pm in L 237: We will have a rich presentation of COA students who will share their immigrant experiences.

FIRST THURSDAY’S OPEN MIC “Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage” Thursday, May 4th 3:00 at the Student Center (F Building) Pit: The mission of First Thursday’s is to promote artistic expression as a form of healing and community liberation. this month we honor Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We have headlining performances from Singer MJ Lee and Voracity. We welcome all poets, singers, dancers, actors, musicians, comedians, educators, fans, friends, and ultimately – family.

TASTE OF ASIA FESTIVAL: Thursday, May 11th 12:00pm at the COA Campus Quad: This is the signature event for the Asian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month. We will feature free Asian cuisine, cultural performances, a fashion show, and music.

FILM SCREENING BREATHIN’ – A EDDY ZHENG STORY Wednesday, May 17th 3:00pm at the Student Center (F Building) Pit: A free film screening and we will provide free popcorn and snacks. The Eddy Zheng Story paints an intimate portrait of Eddy-the prisoner, the immigrant, the son, the activist-on his journey to freedom, rehabilitation and redemption.
