Practice Tests

Beginning December 1, 2016 new COA students will take the CTEP, CELSA, or MDTP test to assist with placement into English/ ESL and Math courses.

Special note:

Multiple Measure Assessment Project

If you have graduated from a United States  high school within the last 10 years and have a copy of your high school transcript, College of Alameda  encourages you to assess using your high school transcripts.

College of Alameda also encourages you to assess using your Early Assessment Program (EAP) results. These results are included in the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress Student Score Report (CAASPP) provided by your high school

Below you will find information and samples of the different tests used for placement. Preparing for the placement test may lead to a better performance and a higher placement, therefore we recommend that you take a look at the samples below before your assessment appointment.

English:

COA uses the CTEP (College Test for English Placement) to assess students’ skills in reading comprehension.
