Workshops

Workshops are held in the COA Library's Reference Area (L building, first floor). No registration is necessary and drop-ins are welcome.  Students, ask your professor about receiving extra credit for attending a Library workshops.  Workshops may be taken out of sequence.  Research I: Research Process - This one-hour workshop introduces students to the step by step process of doing research.  Includes how to develop a research topic, identify keywords, construct search statements, and search the online library catalog (list of books). 

 


 

 Research II: Databases and Internet - Take the next step in researching and learn time saving techniques for efficiently searching the Library's online article databases and the Internet.

 


 

 Research III: Evaluating, Citing & Plagiarism - Last but not least, learn to recognize credible sources. This workshop includes strategies for evaluating books, articles and websites; creating a list of works cited; and an overview of plagiarism.
