ALPHABETICAL LIST OF THE DATABASES:

Academic Search Premier   -- full-text articles and/or indexing for over 3,500 scholarly journals spanning 20 years and covering all subject areas.

Alt HealthWatch - This database focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It offers libraries full text articles for more than 180 international, and often peer-reviewed journals and reports. In addition, there are hundreds of pamphlets, booklets, special reports, original research and book excerpts. Alt HealthWatch provides in-depth coverage across the full spectrum of subject areas covered by complementary and alternative medicine. This database features indexing and abstracts going back as far as 1984, and full text going back as far as 1990.

Auto Repair Reference Center - Includes vehicle repair info., care tips, and recall information.

Biography Resource Center    -- biographies of both current and historic people from respected Gale sources with related full-text articles from hundreds of magazines and newspapers, as well as tens of thousands of images and links to vetted websites. Search for people based on name, occupation, nationality, ethnicity, birth/death dates and places, or gender, as well as keyword and full text. 

Books in Print   -- publication and purchasing information for books (currently in print), audiobooks and videos. Also includes some biographical information on authors and brief book reviews.

Business Source Premier - is the industry’s most used business research database, providing full text for more than 2,300 journals, including full text for more than 1,100 peer-reviewed titles. This database provides full text back to 1886, and searchable cited references back to 1998. Business Source Premier: Government Edition is superior to the competition in full text coverage in all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance and economics. This database is updated daily on EBSCOhost.


CQ Researcher   -- in depth reports on single "hot" issues in the news ranging from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and science and technology. For each topic the report includes an overview of the topic, pro-con feature, a chronology, lengthy bibliographies, charts, graphs and sidebar articles.

CollegeSource   -- Access to 10,700 college catalogs, web sites, and descriptions of 2-year, year, graduate, and professional schools

CountryWatch    -- includes political, economic, social, and environmental information and data for 192 countries as well as country news and maps. 

Contemporary Authors   -- Provides complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on more than 120,000 U.S. and international authors. 

Contemporary Literary Criticism Select    -- critical essays on contemporary authors. Each CLC--Select entry contains a biographical/critical introduction, listing of principal works and sources for further study. 

Dictionary of Literary Biography   -- Provides nearly 10,000 biographical and critical essays on the lives, works, and careers of the world's most influential literary figures from all eras and genres. 

Discovering Collection    -- full-text articles providing an overview of topics in addition to biographies, literary criticisms, timelines, primary sources, images, and videos.

Ethnic NewsWatch  -- full-text articles from newspapers, magazines and journals of the ethnic, minority and native press. 

ERIC - the Education Resource Information Center, contains more than 1,300,000 records and links to more than 323,000 full-text documents dating back to 1966.


Expanded Academic ASAP   -- full-text articles and/or indexing for over 3,500 magazines and journals spanning the last twenty years and covering all subject areas.

Funk and Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia  - provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.

GreenFile - offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records.

Health Source: Consumer Edition - providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source: Consumer Edition provides access to nearly 80 full text, consumer health magazines.

Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition - provides nearly 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names.

International Bibliography of Theater and Dance - is the definitive research tool for the study of theatre and the performing arts. This database was initiated by the American Society for Theatre Research, and since 1984, the Theatre Research Data Center (TRDC) at Brooklyn College has published 14 volumes of the IBTD. These volumes comprise a fully indexed, cross-referenced and annotated databank of over 60,000 journal articles, books, book chapters and dissertation abstracts on all aspects of theatre and performance in 126 countries. International Bibliography of Theatre & Dance with Full Text contains more than 490 full-text titles, including more than 170 full-text journals, and more than 360 full-text books & monographs.


LexisNexis Academic   -- full-text local, national and international newspaper articles (1970 - present); federal, state, & international laws & code; business news and financial information; medical and health Information; biographies; country and state profiles; polls & surveys; and quotations. Includes newspapers such as the San Francisco Chronicle (1989+), New York Times (1980+) and Christian Science Monitor (1980+).

Library, Info. Science and Tech. Abstracts   -- articles in professional periodicals covering topics related to librarianship (1960+).

MasterFILE Premier - Designed specifically for public libraries, this multidisciplinary database provides full text for nearly 1,700 general reference publications with full text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also contains full text for nearly 500 reference books and over 164,400 primary source documents, as well as an Image Collection of over 502,000 photos, maps & flags. This database is updated daily via EBSCOhost.

Medline  - provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals.

Military and Government Collection   -- full-text magazine articles, journal articles and pamphlets on topics related to the military and government.

Newspaper Source - provides cover-to-cover full text for more than 40 (U.S.) & international newspapers. The database also contains selective full text for 389 regional (U.S.) newspapers. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are also provided.

Oxford Art Online    -- online encyclopedia for the visual arts covering from prehistory to present day. Includes artist biographies, overview of art forms, time periods, styles, cultures and geography.  Includes the full-text of The Dictionary of Art and The Oxford Companion to Western Art.

Oxford Music Online   -- Comprehensive online resource acknowledged as the unsurprassed authority on all aspects of music, including Western, Non-western, & Popular, by the academic and professional community.

Primary Search provides full text for more than 70 popular, magazines for elementary school research. All full text articles included in the database are assigned a reading level indicator (Lexiles), and full text information dates as far back as 1990.

Professional Development Collection -   Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of nearly 520 high quality education journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles. This database also contains more than 200 educational reports. Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world.

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection is a comprehensive database covering information concerning topics in emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational & experimental methods. This is the world's largest full text psychology database offering full text coverage for nearly 400 journals.

Regional Business News - This database provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of more than 80 regional business publications covering all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.

Religion and Philosophy Collection - provides extensive coverage of such topics as world religions, major denominations, biblical studies, religious history, epistemology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of philosophy. Religion & Philosophy Collection offers nearly 300 full text journals, including more than 250 peer-reviewed titles, making it an essential tool for researchers and students of theology and philosophical studies.

SIRS Knowledge Source  -- full-text magazine, journal and newspaper articles covering all subject areas; U.S. Government documents; maps; biographies of artists, writers, musicians, U.S. Presidents, judges and other government officials; country profiles; recommended websites organized by topic; and Pro/Con Leading Issues reports on "hot topics".

Student Research Center   -- beginning level articles from popular magazines (1975+), reference books, biographies, primary sources, and images. Designed for an audience at high school level. Also includes MAS Ultra database and the Columbia Encyclopedia.

Vocational and Career Collection - is designed for vocational and technical libraries servicing high schools, community colleges, trade institutions and the general public. You need a username and password to access the databases from off-campus. Bring a current COA student ID card to the Library Reference Desk to receive a username and password. Usernames and passwords cannot be given out over the phone. Once you have a username and password, click on the database that you want to use. You will be prompted to enter your username and password.
