The English department at College of Alameda is focused on helping students achieve their transfer requirements for a four-year institution, offering the necessary critical thinking and composition and reading courses required by the UC and CSU systems, as well as preparatory courses for students who did not place directly into a transfer course.
Studying English gives students skills in expression and critical thinking that can be applied in many aspects of a student’s personal and professional life, and graduating with a BA in English at a four year institution can potentially offer a lot of flexibility in terms of future careers. Professions for English majors include administration, management, teaching, editing, and publishing.
