Program Spotlight: Outreach

Published November 29th, 2016 in Announcements

The outreach team launched Mobile CoA at Las Casas on November 28th, assisting around 20 ESL students with the CoA application process and plans to continue assisting with online orientation on December 6th.

In addition, the outreach team has been hosting both individual and group tours to potential students on campus. With the coordination of Outreach Specialist Ashley Flores and Dean Lilia Celhay, ACLC 8th graders were mesmerized by the chemistry and biology lab demonstrations by our esteemed faculty members Alex Madonik, Mitra Salahifar, and Leslie Reiman. The students were able to get a glimpse of the life of a CoA science major in our Science Annex and plan to schedule more field trips!

Alameda Chamber of Commerce 2016 Business Expo at CoA

Published October 11th, 2016 in Announcements

Alameda businesses and residents have waited over two years for the return of the Alameda Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, making it one of the most anticipated events ever held in Alameda. The added Business Education Conference promises to make it well worth the wait. Attendees will have the opportunity to browse through scores of business exhibits, attend an array of small business workshops, find job opportunities and view main stage programs not found at any other business event.

For the first time in Alameda’s history, the 2016 Business Expo will feature Small Business Association Workshops such as “Free and Low-Cost Resources for Small Business” and “How to Access SBA Capital”. The Chamber will offer additional workshops including “Understanding the New Employee Overtime Law” and “The 5 Numbers Every Business Owner Should Know”.

The main stage will feature a Think Tank Panel similar to the popular television series, Shark Tank, and a keynote presentation by Dennis Erokan, founder of BAM Magazine, the BAMMY Awards and past President of the Alliance of Chief Executives. An abundance of business exhibits including, but not limited to, home health care, technology, home security, marketing and financial services will be available to serve your home and business needs.
